The Story Began in 2001

Hello! Welcome to the Lilli's Littles blog and to my first post! The above image is just an imagined illustration of myself and my daughter, working together to create her first dollhouse, but this is really how it all began! In 2001, I started to work on a dollhouse for my then 9 year old little girl. I already had a love for miniatures, since I was a little girl and I had hoped to get my little one interested as well.
As I recall, this was a dollhouse kit from Real Good Toys, and we painted it pink. Ultimately, she had the dollhouse in her room for a few years, and I don't remember what happened to it so long ago. She never really seemed too interested in the miniature world, but it fired me up to began a hobby that has now turned into a passionate business. (And my daughter is a creative soul to this day!)
The catalyst of building a dollhouse, led me to make the little people and is now my main business. I looked for dollhouse people for my daughter in 2001, and was incredibly disappointed in what was available: unrealistic and poor quality figures. So, I decided to make the dolls myself!
I started in polymer clay, learning scale and proportions and found myself addicted with every little figure I created. As mentioned earlier, I already had a love for miniatures since I was a little girl, and made dollhouses from cardboard and all of the minis by hand. This next step of making the figures seemed to come naturally to me. I suppose a love for dolls had helped too. I just had to keep creating. I had discovered a world of other dollmakers out there, and learned so much from these artists and soon developed my own methods and style.
I switched to porcelain a few years later, and haven't looked back. The ceramic world had drawn me in with the allure of the timeless beauty and quality of porcelain. Now, this became an art form, and with each figure, I challenged myself to do more and now I create porcelain dolls from my original sculpts.

The year 2014 is my official start of Lilli's Littles and through the support of my family and friends, I have this wonderfully world I get to work in full time.
The passion for dollhouse dolls is steady and though I have the ups and downs of running a business, every time I finish a doll, I think "Wow, I am blessed to be able to do this."
So from 2001 to today, I am still creating my "littles" and now have the pleasure of working with other dollmakers and collectors around the world.

Congratulations on your first post! Best Wishes for many more!
Nadine
